RDM resources and services: Language Archive Cologne (LAC)

Humanities research data as a whole is characterized in particular by its strong heterogeneity. Different data formats, types and models place different demands on their long-term preservation, availability and reusability. In addition, individual specialist traditions and routines for handling and processing research data have developed in various discipline-specific communities.

Accordingly, subject- and data-specific and, in some cases, community-specific solution strategies and models are required to ensure needs-oriented research data management. The Language Archive Cologne (LAC) of the Data Center for the Humanities (DCH) is a subject- and data-specific research data repository that is aimed in particular at disciplines that work with audiovisual (AV) language data.

The LAC offers

- subject-specific treatment and curation,

- long-term archiving and

- web-based, open availability and re-usability of high-quality digital language resources.

As an established and recognized research data repository, the LAC enables an optimal connection to the specialist community. Together with the Institute of Linguistics (IfL), the DCH actively supports the sustainable handling of research data in the sense of good scientific practice through the operation of the LAC.

For optimal and efficient advice and support in archiving and making AV data available, we are available to you in the current situation by e-mail or video conference. You can reach us easily and conveniently via info-dch(at)uni-koeln.de.
