Spontaneous bilingual speech in Paraguay and Brasil
Description
This corpus of spontaneous bilingual speech consists of 24 interviews with speakers of Guaraní, Spanish, Hunsrik, and Brazilian Portuguese. The interviews were conducted in 2022 in Paraguay and Brazil and recorded in audio and video. The interviews in Guaraní and Portuguese were conducted by informants. The rest of the interviews were conducted by the researcher herself.
22 interviews consisted of a questionnaire that queried sociolinguistic data about the interviewees (upbringing, education, work, hobbies, relationships), as well as encouraged them to tell stories freely by asking about extraordinary experiences or family myths. Two interviews were discussions about the status of the Guaraní language in Paraguay with politicians, activists, and literates.
